Oh, this thread has led me to memoir time--back in high school my best friend (really)
took a french course because he was head over heels for a girl who was a language wizard
and he thought he'd get somewhere by showing how cultured he was. So we had this big
junior dance and he put everything he had into this night. By halfway thorough the
evening, though, it was clear he was getting nowhere. My girlfriend said she was going to
find out what was going on, so we walked over to the girl in question to find out why my
friend was striking out. "Every time we slow dance," she said, "he keeps nuzzling my ear
whispering *Je Tom, Je Tom!"
Needless to say, that affaire went nowhere.
