FWIW--

I remember Jules Siegel's ex-wife Chrissie telling us in NYC a few months 
ago that Pynch did not indulge at the time she knew him. He was observing 
friends and others  who were.  She called him a boy scout.

P>S.  anyone doubt Pynch has an autographed copy of Mao II on his 
bookshelf.
