The future of the list?

Perhaps it's just a fluke or a coincidence, but I'm a also member of three
academic lists: two of them are otherwise unmoderated, lively, and always
informative.  The one that happens to be moderated is also the most boring
of the three: lots of messages, little real content, no substantive debate
whatsover.  Maybe we should consider that as well before or if we decide to
change the format of this list.  Or, perhaps it's irrelevant.
