I beg to differ. He does NOT review M&D. He insults TRP and his writing,
bitches about Marsalis' Pulllitzer, misinterprets TRP fan and critical
response, and generally shows his ass. Okay, I know, some foax just don't
like TRP. Pekar makes it quite clear, however, that he just doesn't
understand Pynchon.
Here's just one example of Pekar's pith: do you know why y'all liked GR?
Because it's big! That's why we all like _V._ second best, _Vineland_ third,
and COL49 least of the pre-M&D TRP novels. No doubt, he suggests, M&D will
now move into the number two slot in the Pynchoncanon. What a yutz.
As for reviewing the book--well, Pekar repeats a bit from the inside cover
promotional drivel. Of course, that's probably all he read. Disappointing.
I really expected more from the Chron.
