FYI, this from today's wires:

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - Australia secretly recruited Nazi
scientists, including former members of Hitler's SS guards, for
defense projects after World War II, Australian newspapers reported
Monday. The allegations come from information in previously
classified documents from the country's National Archives, The Sydney
Morning Herald and The Age in Melbourne reported. The documents were
obtained under Australia's freedom of information law. Ben Chifley,
then prime minister, allowed at least 127 Nazi scientists into the
country to work on government defense projects, the papers said.
Jewish leaders urged the federal government to conduct an inquiry
into the claims. See

Don't the Australian papers realize that the United States' most
important rocket scientist was an ex-Nazi Werner Von Braun? If there
are war criminals on the loose, which apparently there are a handful
in this group, that is one thing. After WWII, many of these
scientists were left in a derelict country where they would not have
been able to continue with their profession. Doesn't it make sense
that certain countries, ours included, wouldn't want these scientists
to fall into the hands of potential enemies?
