My 1950's _Mansion's Shorter French and English Dictionary_, which was in
common use in American college French courses in P's time, makes the
distinction clear enough, but, as with German, P now and then doesn't get
it quite right.
Another thought--Katje was on the Riviera to get her hair frosted. :-)
