As a medium, Carroll Eventry is an organ of perception akin to the cortex.
He is at the mercy of those who use him to communicate between the two
sides. As an interface he embodies the Zero, the transition between here
and there.
Peter Sachsa, the Control, directs messages from the other side. Unlike
C.E., Peter remains "conscious," at least through parts of the
communication. There is a sense, though, that P.S. is part of an elaborate
multi-level structure on the other side, which uses him as a Control, much
as C.E. is being used.
Signals being sent from one side to the other are subject to numerous
limitations:
1. Language: Is there a usable "Across the Void" dictionary?
2. Limitaions w/in the Media: Wouldn't this be better in Living-Color?
3. Intentional Deception: Do we assume "They Come In Peace?" How naive.
4. Others?
P.E. initiated first-contact with C.E. Why would he do that (especially,
given his own "victimization" during life, to be revealed in the next
episode)? What is the agenda of the spirits who reach across the void,
control and speak?
Enzian, who is culturally very familiar with spirit communication, is not so
sure of their motives. He has "a sick feeling that they are not as friendly
as they seem to be" (153.2)
(151.40) Peter Sachsa intimated that there were, in fact, many versions of
the Angel which might apply. Overbaby's was not as available as certain
others. There are problems with levels, and with Judgement, in the Tarot
sense... This is part of the storm [Wind, Wind, Wind! See the "winds of
Karma" (147.1)] that sweeps now among them all, both sides of Death. It is
unpleasant.
Which side of Death is in control? Are we the slaves of death? Or do the
living generate the winds of Karma which rebound from the Other Side with a
will maybe not so benign? On which side does the War reside?

but temporarily,
from the steam-bath
which is New Orleans.
