Yeah, I used to love it. Here in the US it used to be sold in health
food stores until the mid-70s when it was banned because it was proven
by someone or some group or another to have been linked to stomach
cancer or something. The only way you could (and, perhaps, still can)
get any sort of sassafrass is as "gumbo filet," which is an ingredient
in Louisiana cuisine.
