Culturing of cerebral cortex neurons on multi-electrode plates for the
investigation of long-term neuronal network development:

"Our goal is to analyze the development of functional network activity
in relation to the biochemical and morphological development of the
neuronal network and the processes regulating their interactions. The
multi-electrode plates should also enable investigation of causal
effects of electric activity on neuronal morphogenesis and network
connectivity, by allowing long-term (patterned) stimulation of single
neurons."
