I agree.  It may be that the Kenosha Kid is Orson Welles, but I don't
think it MEANS anything if this is the case.  It could be that during
the writing of _GR_, there were many things Pynchon did to have fun. 
Some might have been done as an elbow in the ribs to the cognitcenti
with similar quasi-photographic trashcan memories, some may be private
jokes.  My past readings of _GR_ revealed the KK as just a cowboy
character with a nickname, like Pecos Pete or Yosimite Sam.  The same
way with the Zappa reference, it's fun to goof on these connections,
but I don't think we can make too much of it.  It's a big book and TRP
had to get ideas about events and names from somewhere and it is quite
likely that these connections are valid.  It's when we begin to ask why
they appear that we can sometimes miss the off ramp.
