There's a sentence in _V._ chapter 4 to do with modern aircraft as
'weapon-systems' and assigning a new nobility to maintenance crews
(sorry haven't got the text here) which I find horribly unconvincing.
It just shouts "Boeing technical manual" to me.
I do wonder whether further knowledge of P.'s past would have the same
effect on the more mysterious stuff that gets chewed over here.
Ignorance is bliss.
