And there's another problem: I just learnt I'm (as a European) only a mirror 
of my environment, and unable to be infected by American fantasy. Indeed 
Robbe-Grillet was very colourless but I can remember me weakly that there was 
something like "Nouvelle Vague"... and especially Frenchmen are very proud 
not to be influenced by Yankee cultural imperialism...
But let's be serious: V.'s  figures are representatives of the 
pessimistic-thermodynamic hypotheses of the "artist as a sad man", more 
Schopenhauer than Nietzsche, Wittgenstein in Luederitzbucht. "Sacre du 
printemps" is still an atomic explosion. That's right, all. But - when we 
speak about Pynchon's weaknesses, the early one was too much PoHi and 
philosophical and too less imaginative in some way. I say this although I'm a 
friend of PoHi versions.
