Stranger than fiction?

This incident from 1992 must have come up sometime during the Vineland read 
but I don't recall seeing it.  I just stumbled across this account of it 
while looking for something entirely different.

I also find the finely outfitted teepee strangely significant and in 
keeping with the spirit of Vineland somehow.  I wonder what she watches on 
that T.V.
