It appears to me that, in trying to argue that Pynchon's texts disdain 
Calvinism/the Puritans (and thus Protestantism?), "gnosticism/s" etc but
*not* Catholicism (and then in offering supplementary denunciations of
Buddhism, animism etc), you are making the case that Pynchon's texts (and
thus Pynchon?) privilege Catholicism over all other religious creeds and
belief systems. This seems bizarre, particularly in light of those
barely-faded phosphorescences emanating from Fra Fairing's Parish in _V._
