Actually, you're not "only" Max, you're someone else as well, as we all 
know. But while I agree that thanks are due to Dave Monroe for his hosting
I'm inclined to think that the point of a discussion list or group reading
is, well, *discussion*, of which there was precious little it seemed to me.
Rather than encouraging the threads of interaction and commentary which
threatened to emerge the host seemed rather to want to quash or divert these
so that he could continue with his own saturation-level assault. I'd add
that this is an observation rather than a complaint, and it is a matter of
personal style (i.e. monologic, as admitted) and taste I'm sure.

I think both Judy's post about the psychological interpretation of "fugue"
and Kevin's about the possible extra 'Wasteland' connections were given
short shrift, and would much rather have seen further elaboration of these
issues which were being brought up by actual list-participants in real-time
rather than all the regurgitated secondary source material.

The description of "dominance and submission scholarship usually in evidence
on this list" is a rather nasty and condescending slur against some good
people who do take time to participate thoughtfully and reasonably in the
*discussion* hereabouts. While I agree that Doug Millison's steady stream of
spam, propaganda, misrepresentation and attempted character assassination
could fit this bill, I think you're way off-base and totally out of line in
your characterisation of anybody other than him in this light.

              I'd like to point out that Dave Monroe's hosting was a model
of
diligence and bibliographic assistance without a trace of dominance and
submission scholarship usually in evidence on this list.  It seems a model
to
