Do you need to drag me into it?
We would have settled the Vietnam/foot soldier debate quite amicably
but for Doug's disruptive tactics. Doug knows nothing about history or
economics and should stick to
making a fool of himself because it's the only thing he really shines
at.
Doug dragged Derek out of class to smear Robert with anti-Semitism. I
was here, I read the entire thread. It was the most absurd and
disgusting thread of the last 4 years. Doug continues to re-write the
posts of former list members to serve his sick and selfish ends. Derek
is an Associate Professor and Doug is an Online Journalist. Now you tell
me, who can more afford to be involved in a nasty name calling
list-serve debate?
"Barbara" started posting here on Stem
Cell research. She actually came into the mix to cast Morris as Pokler,
raise the blood pressure of CFA and others with her Jew/Palistinian
thread and after tossing around nasty insults disappeared only to
return on September 11. She has done little if anything to contribute to
the
Pynchon List. In fact, it's obvious she is only here to fight and cause
problems.
This is Barbara's first post on the September 11th tragedy.
"America must have an enormous karmic debt to pay. Let's just pay it
and learn our lessons."
This was a very strange thing to say on September 11th. But it was
nothing compared with what she would say in the days following 9/11.
Barbara, "a new list member," attacked long standing list members,
calling them fascists, nazis, misogynists, dicks, bush supporters, jerry
falwells, so on. She praised Doug for his writing skills and his moral
high ground.
She also knew things about list members that a new
member simply couldn't know. Moreover, it's clear that Barbara also knew
things about list members that she learned offlist or in some other way.
Cyrus tried to get her to tone it down:
"I don't think these words describe anyone on this list. As far as I
know, everyone here was shocked and disgusted by what happened."
Doug is a very slick and nasty prick. And he has nothing to lose.
I don't know all the details, but I still suspect that
Doug tried to "Blacklist" Robert. Doug and his friends hold a major
grudge
against me and are determined to get me.
Oh sure, Doug will brand me the paranoid like he did Robert when Robert
accused him of hacking into his computer. Don't be fooled by this guy.
He's crazy. He covers up his tracks with hyperbole, exaggeration, rants
and rhetoric, multiple personas, and a hundred other dirty tricks.
I'm not quitting because of Doug. Doug and Robert have been going at it
since I joined.
At times one or the other or both got to me, but this is different, the
list is a downer, it's not fun and it's not worth it. It was always
better than TV, but not any more.
These are the worst of times, but thanks for the best of times,
T
