The only one who might've pulled it off would have been Dennis Potters.
He died of cancer a few years ago.  I'd hoped he might attempt GR as a
great 24-hour cycle.  His best was the massive "Singing Detective",
which is available on videotape and worth your time if you haven't seen
it.
