50 Danes are also missing. That may sound like a small number, but we
are a small country.
And I also have friends in NYC whom I haven't heard from since the
attack.
So I certainly understand your grief and your rage.
I would applaud as much as anyone if Bin Laden and the others are taken
to the international court in Hague. If they are assassinated in stead,
I certainly wouldn't weep over them, but I'm afraid to make them
martyrs.
Any concerted effort against terrorism also has my full support.
It's not a question of just sitting down smiling and turning the other
cheek. I just don't believe in killing innocent people in order to
punish the guilty. Civilians in Afghanistan have suffered from 23 years
of bombings and attacks. I was in Kabul in the good old hippie days in
'67 and remember a wonderful country and hospitable, kind people.
You don't get your dead back by using the same methods as the
terrorists. You just poison yourself morally.
It must be possible to punish the guilty without massacring the
innocent.
