I think this is a misreading. It's a common enough passage, Jesus is
talking about the resurrection and not about the marriage and sexual
exploits of angels.

I think, can't remember, but I was taught that Lucifer took two-thirds
of heaven with him.

Anyway, the RC is ministering and I think he is a very open-minded young
priest in some regards. He's struggling with his own faith and the dogma
and doctrine of the CE, which is, btw, caught in a struggle too. He is
not always welcome, not even by members of his own church, but he seems
to be welcoming all sorts of cross-cultural and cross religious ideas.
Way back when he holds up the mango as the body of christ. He's rather
Catholic and catholic in his approach, at least as a young man he is.
Here on the line he may be assuming that the men he is ministering too
(not Anglicans with the exception of Captain Mason) hold certain
beliefs.
