i will definitely agree to that.i was very surprised to see phonetic
pronunciations of foreign names in schoolbooks. french people come up
with vaguely english sounding noises when they have to, but if it
looks remotely french they'll just go for the french-sounding version,
and we don't learn it any other way.
there's no way i can transcribe how we say benjamin franklin, but those of you
who are familiar with the french "in" sound can imagine. yup. pretty
sad, uh.
as johnny rotten would, "and we don't caaaaaaaaaaaare"... he he.
