A small correction:  I suggested you search the
Internet, or talk to somebody who participates in
non-violent activism, to find out more about the range
of tactics that are considered "nonviolent" and to
learn more about the debate on that topic.  

As you note -- if I understand you correctly -- words
take on many meanings in the context of their use.
