Pynchon mentions the Guardian by name in that same Playboy piece, I think.
Yes, yes, it's then when I started reading it too. It's all in the
archives, by the way, Theresa. Do a search on Playboy and look for
something from Doug 5 or 6 months ago. He had a friend in Japan who
translated it for him. For us. It suffered a lot in translation, but you
get a certain feel for someone who says he's distrustful of his government
and media, however badly translated. He reiterates the ideas in his
books--government and big business in bed with each other doing the big
NASTY while "average citizens" get fucked over by the Powers that be.
