Right. But they insist on focussing on the Pynchon even if doing so
undermines their project. Want to talk about a predictable pattern, this
is exactly what the Journalist and his defense attorney pulled when we
read Slow Learner. It was a bit absurd to talk about an Introduction
written by an author to his own "slow learner" tales, but that's how
they set it up. Me, Keith, Otto and Robert and Quail have talked about
the novel and the afterword by Fromm. I've tried to bring VL and CL49,
even some political criticism (Patell's excellent study), but the same
old predictable pattern persists. Not that Doug & Dave are entirely to
blame. Doug wants to be the center and he is and a lot of participation
is directed at his being there and doing whatever it takes to stay
there. Well, all I can say is that Doug (is this post beginning to sound
like a post about Doug?)...... and that's all I care to say about Doug.
