Yes. The whole confrontation goes along way towards disspelling
any notions about Brock is not trying any federal trick in the book
to manipulate and control what remains just beyond his grasp.

When this scene is reprised, with Zoyd in Frenesi's postion, and
Frenesi inside the sedan, head forced down- as her hand was forced
down on Weed's murder weapon earlier- Frenesi has learned how
to play that unforseen sixth, and Zoyd (and Prairie) are saved.

She's a soldier: name, rank, serial number- and whatever means
necessary to save the day.

as she moved closer, she shivered, tried to cross her
her arms, hug herself into an invisible shawl or the
memory of one she used to wear... (273)

She may keep her memory intact, even when abused, but she hardly,
if ever, looks back.
