Great holiday value

My son sent me a clipping form Grub Street Free Press, a Boston freebie
newspaper. In an article concerning gift ideas was:

"Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon was an early prototype for what we
now deem 'complicated.' Pynchon tosses around somewhere between 80 and
100 characters, out of sequence, and layers his novel with 37 themes,
ideas and plot-lines. Mainly a book of choice for thesis papers,
Gravity's Rainbow is over 700 pages and keeps pouring it on line after
line. Each word in this book (as determined with the system described
above) weighs 1 five-hundred-thousandth of a pound. And it now costs
$15.95. This book will not be one that gets finished or enjoyed too
quickly. Great holiday value."
