awesome pynchon pic

Pretty tantalizing stuff. From what I've managed to glean on the topic of 
photographic analysis from various TV shows and conspiracy theory books, I 
can conclude: Maybe? Especially compared with this pic:

 Also, didn't Pynch really drop off the radar on the eve of an interview 
with, who was it, Playboy? when V. was first published? Maybe this was taken 
shortly before that.
