That's one of the most famous photos of Pynchon, unless you're 
suggesting that the other photo, of Luciano Ligabue, is Pynchon, which, 
unless Pynchon has taken more drastic measures than we thought, in some 
sort of author protection program, to create a completely new identity, 
it is not.

picture before?  It seems to me more plausible than the previous one 
mentioned, at least because the man shown is considerably aged from the 
famous pictures of TRP.  I found it on the fifth or sixth page of the 
images.google.com search results.  Thoughts?
