If Pynchon had intended 'Vineland' to be the vast canvas like GR or M&D or 
AD then it's a failed project. I would like to believe that it's not, which 
infuses me with hope of one more doorstop coming after AD. V. doesn't count 
as it's not part of the Great Four. As for Bodine, it might be either his 
father or grandfather (or both). Don't remember how old he is in GR.
