I got the sense Lake believed she deserved it.  If, as has been 
postulated, a person/character is what they DO, they are also what they 
have done, and are  responsible for it.  Webb is held responsible for 
blowing up mine infrastructure, Deuce and Sloat are forced into taking 
responsibility for killing Webb (ironically because their customer 
believes they failed to do so), Reef feels responsible for getting 
revenge, Frank feels responsible for checking in on his mother and 
sister, and Lake accepts responsibility for being with Deuce while 
knowing he killed her father, her descent into debauchery a form of 
punishment she inflicts upon herself.
