Seems to be Austria taking a collective guilt-dump.  It's just bizarre;
censorship masquerading as intolerance of intolerance.  Compare this with
Iran and its laughable attempt to get a rise out of the west by
holocaust-denying cartoon contests.  Right in time for the unfortunate rise
of Nationalism in Europe.  Another little unwelcome to the 21st Century, Big
Brother wearing a 60s Smiley Face, while the Islamic extremists are trying
to drag us back to the 13th Century with them.  It seems at times that
Orwell didn't portray the absurdities of the future with a broad enough
brush.

It does seem to be an over-correction, doesn't it.  Lucky he admitted the
error of his ways or he might have been really punished.

I suggest they call in celebrity mediator Arnold S to find some middle
ground...you know, a little love and understanding.

It's not a proud day for anyone, although a red letter day for holocaust
deniers perhaps.

that said, holocaust denying must be one of the most stupid crimes
going...

...while Irving has a long history of this kind of thing, surely his
greatest "crime" is to be a bad historian.

Reading an Irving book is not compulsory and few people choose to...

...contrast that with Japanese high school history textbooks which are
compulsory for millions and yet seek to whitewash the history of the
1930s and 1940s

Also seems a little weird to me that the country that spawned Adolf
Hitler (not to mention Jorg Haider in more recent times ) should be so
keen to prosecute foreigners for denying racist crimes
