Hard covers and lack thereof

I'm of two minds. Hard covers are for keeps.  But that means you have
to take care of them.  I think of paperbacks as disposable, even
though I never throw them out.  But I don't have to worry about
abusing them. They usually end up being taped together on the outside
spine...
