Just posted a sort of conversation in URLs of the seminal documents on
"hysterical realism," for those of you following along @ home.
Meanwhile, remembering the immediate aftermath of 11 September 2001,
even then I couldn't help but laugh @ and/or be fearful of those
proclaiming "the death of irony" during the ascendancy/heyday of
hopefully the most ironic administration this country will ever see
(e.g., http://youtube.com/watch?v=qnV4tMvI0ME). As Jon Stewart and
The Daily Show have proven night after night since, it's a
self-satirizing presidency. Even RMN didn't provide this much
entertainment, or this much reason for worry. It's a fine line
between laughetr and terror ...
