I decided to argue with myself about Lake and the self won.

Lake is indeed,  as many of you have said previously,  in some kind 
of stage of re-inventing herself when she becomes the "virgin bride." 
This is the prelude to the kind of denial she'll be going through 
later and it's very,  very much in character.

Probably someone said that already.
