Sixties?!  Bah, humbug!

 

Born October '54, I, too, am a child of the seventies, having been just a
little boy in the mid and late fifties, and still a boy throughout the
sixties.  

 

However much I emulated and admired the activities that are supposed to have
typified the sixties, it's hard to have an orgy in your parent's house (even
in the basement), so I suffered (and am trying to recover from) from what I
came to call "Sixties Envy."  Sure some of today's young people have a sort
of hagiographic view of the sixties, but I, and others my age, lived
alongside the sixties, seeing it all around us, but mainly in music, movies,
and Life Magazine
