Regarding a number of the points you make, I think you lack some
insight into the details:
#1 (You): "willingness of the liberal/progressive community to comply
and act like the last seven years have been business as usual"
#1 (Me): Unfortunately, even now, there is no such thing as a
*unified* liberal/progressive community in the US. The Regan
Revolution decimated the Democratic party, which is only now
experiencing a resurgence, largely as a response to the last seven
years. The advent of a semi-organized new more liberal Democrats,
commonly called Netroots (closely associated w/ Howard Deans internet
revolution last election cycle. See also Daily Kos website for a
Netroots hub) is now at war with "centrist" democrats called the
"Democratic Leadership Council," which the article linked below calls
"a group that came to prominence in connection with President
Clinton's electoral victory in 1992." I associate Hillary with these
"centrists."
This article give a good insight into the war going on within the
Democratic party:

#2 (You): "Anyone on earth with half a brain knew in 2003 that this
was a war of choice, violating international law and based upon lies"
#2 (Me): Like you, I was shocked that W got reelected because I
thought the above also. We underestimated the stupidity of the US
electorate. Of course the public was long subjected to the Saddam-Al
Qaida connection lie, shamelessly repeated by Bush/Cheney long after
it was proven false. The last election proved that Fear and Ignorance
are powerful tools for ruthless politicians. I think Hillary's teams
has decide to exploit that tool against Obama now.
