...and why are the UK and US versions of LD so different?

Someone recommended Norfolk to me specifically because she knew I was a
Pynchon fan and thought that I would like his stuff.

I see the comparison. On the other hand, I initially hated the Black Crowes
because of their derivative nature; then I realized that I was criticizing
someone for worshipping at the same temple that I do.
