I'll admit that I've never read _Infinite Jest_ ... I own it, and it looks 
really impressive and intimidating on my book shelf, but each time I started 
it, I couldn't help wondering how many books I *wouldn't* get around to 
reading while I wrestled with that monster ... and, well ...

However, I *did* read his collection of essays, _Consider The Lobster_ ... 
and it was DFW's excellent essay "Joseph Frank's Dostoyevsky" in that 
collection that got me hooked on Frank's biography of FD and my recent 
reading of D's work ... which then led to my interest in _Master of 
Petersburg_ ...
