On the contrary, Mr. Bailey, you are more than worthy.
I've been loving your "line of patter" for years. I'm sorry
about the above (mis)use of Wallace's tragedy for my
lame comparisons, but I guess I can't get it out of my
mind. I thought IJ was amazing. I hadn't realized that
he had gone on to teach writing at Pomona. That's
sort of eerie. It dredged up memories of Brian Stonehill,
who used to hang out around here,

until he died in an auto accident some years back. Maybe
someday will learn more about what pushed Wallace
over the edge, but until then, we're left with a big
