I remember in 1969 when the murders happened, my friend saying,
"this beautiful actress, Sharon Tate, was murdered...it was really macabre"
and he pronounced the "r" just slightly, but in French, aren't you
supposed to just, like, *think* of the omitted letters rather than say
them at all?
and that will give it the correct sound?
anyway, sometime around then it was also one of our Detroit disc
jockeys who came up with the "Paul is dead" thing
and I heard "Season of the Witch" for the first time that year...and
saw "Rosemary's Baby" (and read the MAD magazine parody, "Rose-mia's
Boo-Boo")
