inherent vice - continuity issue

Hi everyone,

I'd like to ask people here if anyone spotted a continuity problem in  
Inherent Vice.
Towards the end of chapter 14, Doc and Tito get to Arrependimiento  
only to be greeted with a gun by Riggs Warbling. Doc introduces  
himself by saying 'Remember me? Larry Sportello? Doc?' . My problem  
with this is that, as far as I can trace back, last (and the only)  
time Doc saw Riggs, he was posing undercover as someone dealing with a  
donation from Mickey Wolfmann. This feels wrong to me. What do you  
think?
