everybody else probably made this connection automatically
and didn't think it worth mentioning, but it struck me today ("what a
sap she had!") that the transformation of Kathleen Byron's face is supposed
to, as the Harvard Crimson might say, jive with the description of
Nixon's cartouched face.
(A horrible face, which also conjures Dr Hilarius and his faces...)
