least knew it, in our childhoods, so............

were the postwar years so ...inauthentic ....that most could not even see it
like fishboowl fish and water yet
that they gave Gaddis
his deep theme and subject because he could feel it everywhere yet
rise above it with genius judgement and feeling about it---outside it mentally
as artists can be?
