As an Italian living in Vienna, I enjoy the D'Annunzio episode in all its
irony (considering the role of Italy in WW1). True, it's quite hard to
translate his braggy prose in detail, and I would suggest to enjoy it read
aloud in Italian, just for the sound.
It seems that this country has a long-standing tradition of crazy or
somewhat - ähem... eccentric politicians which is difficult to wipe out.
(You folks would probably enjoy a collection of the finest names and
emblems out of the > 80 political parties eligible for parliament this
february....)
