I have just learned of a poem, mid- 1980's, by one
Tony Harrison, English, working class scholarship kid now a known
poet and playwright in that country called 'v.'

He gives it as ".v" [versus] and adds 'against against, against' as
a major meaning...He says he saw it as a graffito and used it
associatively--Churchill's Victory, much more--- for the long(ish) poem.
