Jung's version of depth connection was more to do with interior dialog.
Most of us spend a great deal more time in unspoken dialog with various
'others', or various perspectives within ourselves, than we do with actual
other people. The quality of that interior dialog and how to raise, or
deepen it, is what Jung pursued. He even identified the subjective "I" as
merely another position in the dialog, rather than as the "self" of
Lacanian thought. Jung's self was the totality of the interior dialogical
positions. Connection with others is highly dependent upon the relative
integration of the individual's many voices. Might be interesting to watch
how that sort of read plays out as we go.
