Jeffrey St. Clair on Charlie Hebdo and Pynchon

I am a very uncritical Pynchon reader and happen to at the very least
like everything he does (well, *almost* everything). Part of this is my
impression that even when Pynchon is not at his best, his prose style is
still unique.

I would like to be a little more articulate on this topic but this would
take time I don't have right now.

While I wouldn't say that IV is his best book, I very much enjoyed
reading it. Speaking of favourite scenes, the car chase with Japonica
Fenway at the wheel and some drugs stowed beneath the seat (if I
remember correctly) comes to mind.

St. Clair also puts some emphasis on the "suicidal" bit, I think, which
I am not very comfortable with.

> Thanks, Thomas. I've repeatedly asked fans of the book (I'm not one) to post their favorite passages from the book. The Charlie-the-Tuna rant is clearly one of them - though it reads more like the ass-backwards, shit 'n shinola rants in GR, than his more intricate passages.
