Might be worth mentioning that that is a big needle, used for injections into the muscle. The ones used for intravenous use are 30g and up.

I think Weisenburger is wrong again. "a number 26 point" would refer to the Gauge measurement, 26G would mean .4636 mm outer diameter or .26 inner diameter, just like you said.

The number 26 here refers to the needle gauge, is that correct?

Weisenburger claims that a number 26 point indicates a needle of
0.26mm in diameter, but a number 26 gauge needle would have a nominal
outer diameter of 0.4636mm. Its inner diameter, however, is indeed
0.26mm, but so is the inner diameter of a 25 gauge needle.
