So much to say, so long to work to get it down.
But there is this tidbit to say: Long, long section(s) here in which TRP is
rewriting and
expanding his GR opening of an apocalyptic event. Now stretched to fill the
canvas of
the whole world---the modern world system?--and its collapse ala the fall
of a crystal palace.
the concept, even words and phrases---one of them being an echo of "they
thought there would
be time", ala GR (and surely an Eliot echo as well).
Talk about a vast wasteland; he gets it down here expansively,
mellifluously anti-lyrical, so to speak, as I wrote, with some horrible
event (to come) which
one cannot help literalizing in one way, albeit full of ambiguity as
always, as a climate catastrophe or
maybe or a nuclear one, right? The Trespassers come back to tell us but TRP
has lots of metaphysical clues
about Time not working that way. A--And, yet, he satirizes time travel.
