The theory that SARS-Cov-2 escaped from a lab is not a racist conspiracy theory. The gain-of-function research in Wuhan was funded or co-funded by the US government. This is not controversial. Whether it actually was a lab leak, I have, of course, no way of knowing.

Have you really never heard of, say, Ralph Baric or Peter Daszak and the Eco Health Alliance? Of NIH funding for GOF research on Coronavirusses in Wuhan?

I don't know who owns Discourse Magazine. I liked the article, is all. Jacob Siegel's article in Tablet Magazin is much more important.

I am sorry if you feel spammed. Next time I'll forward an article about subjects Thomas Pynchon has shown some interest in: McCarthyism, censorship, surveillance, collusion between the security services and internet companies, the possible emergence of totalitarianism in the US etc.
