Thanks for the information.  Takeshi's name has always intrigued me.  
TRP may not (or may!) have had knowledge of Japanese but it's 
certainly not beyond him to have researched it to have achieved the 
effect you described.  The man responsible for Geli Tripping and 
Webley Silvernail (not to mention Bloody Chiclitz) is capable of 
anything.
TRP's naming of characters is the _only_ aspect of his work I've ever 
found redolent of Dickens.  Anybody else?
